Chocolate Ganache Tart

This tart happened in our house twice last week.

One of my friends texted me and asked for a fool-proof chocolate dessert recipe for a non-baker. She’s hosting a dinner gathering and planning to serve a crowd-pleasing dessert. She would like to hear something like “Did you make this? WOW!” when that dessert is put on the table. She didn’t want cupcakes because it’s a little too birthday-ish. By the way, I don’t believe there is a thing as too birthday-ish. No cakes too as it sounds too intimating for her to make one. So tarts or pies!

Strawberry Cream Cheese Puff Pastry Tart

Sometimes I have a craving for puff pastry. I would take that roll of frozen puff pastry from the freezer, try my very best to flatten it without waiting an hour or two for it to thaw, bake it in the oven, then eat it plain or with some jam or powder sugar when it’s still hot. Craziness!

Can I just bake it unrolled? Hmmm…good thinking!

Lemon Meringue Shortbread Tartlets

School was over. Kids are off to their summer holiday. Just two weeks in, we are experiencing a burning heat wave. How burning? Like I wake up in the morning, brush my teeth and I am already sweaty. This hot! Yesterday the thermometer on our patio was pointing at 37C at 3pm. I have no idea how we are going to do with this for the next two months.

Maple Apple Lattice Shortbread Tart

Happy Canada Day!

The heat wave has been treating us really well. Like extremely well. We’ve experienced gorgeous weather since May. And the high temperature of over 30 degrees recently has really gotten us into nothing but staying in the pool with the kids FOR THE WHOLE DAY! Because nothing is better than this. Hmmmm… Maybe air-conditioning?! But I’m sure we would still be hanging at the backyard. Sun-tanning by the water is our thing!
